GETTING LOST
I just recently joined a Club where I had a wonderful experience getting lost. This is the story of my adventure.
This is a Club where a group of Photographers and Nature entusiasts get together to enjoy time with others who have the same interests.
There are many outings in regards to these interests and every walk varies in interest. We tour Horse Stables and Nature-Walks, Fire-Halls and Museums, Air-Shows and Festivals. Every activity is unique and pleasurable.
My very first experience with this Club happened to be on a Sunday where the group met for a hike along a walking trail in the woods at Westminster Pond. I enjoyed taking photos of wild-life and the autumn setting. The day was sunny and the fresh morning air was crisp. I conversed well with the others as we laughed and exchanged ideas, hopes and dreams. The conversations grew and the time was well spent becoming acquainted with my new friends.
There was one gentleman in particular whom I became very interested in as we shared a more private chat away from the others in the group. He asked me many questions about myself and we came to realize how much we had in common. Our ages and lifestyle were similar and our experiences and future prospects were noted to be in sync with each other. The conversation became intense and we inadvertently became distant from the group.
Unexpectedly, we were alone in the woods without our group or guide to lead us back to the correct path. We had no choice but to venture on in hopes to find our way back to the group. We apparently chose the wrong path to follow and became lost and knee-deep in mud. The rest of our walk back to the meeting place, where all this began, was getting stuck in mud and helping one another pull out from the muddy trail. We laughed hysterically at the predicament we found ourselves in. We had such a wonderful adventure getting lost together that neither of us regrettted the circumstances. We became very close in knowing one anothers true personality during this escapade from our excursion. We found ourselves enjoying each others company more than we had expected.
Once we found our way back to the meeting place my new friend offered to take me out for breakfast as his apologies for getting us lost. We entered the restaurant with caked-on mud on our pants and shoes from our knees down. When we stood at the doorway waiting for a table we chuckled to each other as the other patrons stared at our unclean attaire. We ate our breakfast and continued to laugh over how we managed to get ourselves lost and full of mud.
We have now become exceptional friends, talking several times daily and we have plans for future endeavours that hopefully will not consist of mud or getting lost. But what ever we chose to do in our next adventure, we will always remember how we first met.
