I think it's largely a matter of perseverance. Like everything, it gets easier as you become more familiar with it. Don't give up!

The chatroom can be confusing at times when there are a lot of people in there with several conversations going on at once. Don't give up,, there are some great people in there. Even if you don't find Mr. Wonderful in there, you will make some great friends (of both genders.) I hope you keep coming back, we enjoy your company.

Hello everyone. I am Janet in Ontario Canada. I went into the chat room and there were several names in there, but when I spoke, noone answered. Does that mean their names are there but they are not online. Is there only one channel. Would appreciate any help to be had out there. Thanks. Jan

Shonadog, sorry your first time in chat was not a success. There is one English chat room and one German chat room, but have no fear as you will automatically be directed to the English one. I am usually in there between 10 and 11 EST most evenings,, come on it and I will show you the ropes. If I am not there , don't give up, just keep coming back until we connect. Most of the evening chat "regulars" are friendly and you should expect a warm welcome.. hope to see you soon..

Hello Damarus, thanks for the reply. When I click on chat, english, I do go into the chat room and see fifteen names there, then a line, then mine under as if I am the only active person. I did type into the box, but noone responded. Does that mean people leave their names in the channel but are not actually there. Thanks for your help, and I will stop by in the evening. Jan

if you see the symbol for male and female by their name they could be in room but if they have + by the name it could mean they signed by not clicking on the red bar X at the top of the room but instead clicked on the X way at the top of the internet explorer box. Some people have premium and are talking to someone in private or in the attic as we call it and could be busy and not see you come in. I am glad that I got to know you last night in chat.
