]Re: The Dublin Meet 16th April 2011 and planning ahead for the Ireland Meet

Thank you to the ladies who turned up - 7 including myself. There are a couple of lessons that can be learnt from this meet:

1. Pre dinner drinks - this is probably the best way to break the ice especially if
2. The seating arrangements are not conducive for conversation easily
3. Though I had gone into the city to check and book the restaurant – I should have done so at the same time the group were planning on dining. I went in earlier in the day – and it wasn’t so packed.

The majority of those who attended expressed interest in another meet – and not necessarily in Dublin City. We chatted around maybe a meeting down the country – and maybe spending the night away. This will be posted as the Ireland Meet and will be around the month of June or July.
If you are interested and/or have some ideas re the Ireland Meet – just post them here please.

The following is a link for what is being held in Ireland around that time – just to give you some ideas:
http://www.discoverireland.ie/CMSPages/ ... 011&lcid=7

Or we could stay over in a Medieval Castle and enjoy a banquet:
http://www.shannonheritage.com/Entertai ... leBanquet/

Or just find a nice hotel, with a great local restaurant/pub and plan the event from there. The choice is up to you all – so just post your idea’s here.

Just a suggestion.

I think a Hotel with a local Restaurant this would suit both men and women. When you meet in person its makes easier to get an idea of what suits for the future

If you decide on a central location, i would suggest some place loke The Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore.
It has its own Restaurant with Beautiful food, good accomodation, a Lounge Bar within the Hotel,
a decent comfortable Pub downstairs and regular entertainment.
And, anyone in need of a spa, can have a swim in the canal

The Waterford Tallships Race is on the week-end 27thJune-3rdJuly. I,ll be engaged there from the 23rd June.
I think Cork or Limerick would be good venues as they are easy to access the main tourist hotspots.
You have Cork Airport near at hand as is Shannon Airport to Limerick. Bunratty castle is a few miles from Shannon Airport. plenty to do and see around Cork city,.Blarney Stone,Cobh (Titanic last port of call fame) ,Kinsale,Gourmet centre and Spanish Armada fame.
Much will depend on definite numbers attending the meet as I,ve found that many B/B ,s around the South are more interested in clients on a 1st come 1st served basis due to the many tourists that frequent the South and West of the Country. Hotels will want a deposit prior in most cases. I would think too that one would have to select a venue suitable for all attending the meet first and get as many definite attendees as soon as possible and book a hotel. That is going to take up some time organising so the sooner the better Cliath. I,ll help out where possible.Shannon Heritage have a site online.

Hi again all

I’ve been taking into account what has been posted here and also what has been mentioned in the Chat Room.

The consensus is that a place in the midlands would work out less expensive (being that the proposed time is peak season here). Some would like the luxury of having a Spa on the premise / or nearby, and also same with restaurant. So, I’ve been looking for a hotel that covers all the above at a decent price and here is what I’ve found that is worth a look at:

Racket Hall Country House, Roscrea:

Great National Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh

River Court Hotel, Kilkenny

Clonmel Park Conference Leisure and Spa Hotel
http://www.clonmelparkhotel.com/?gclid= ... 4Qod3FsRpg

Hodson Bay Hotel, just outside of Athlone.

For me the most important part of a Meet is the “getting together” more than what activity is decided upon. Again these are just suggestions – feel free to add one yourself. Some sites have nearby activities for those interested in getting together for things to do during the day.

Jimi - Could you post a link for that place you mentioned please - some people will want to have a loot at it :)

I'm leaning towards this place for the Ireland Meet - it appears to tick all the boxes:

The Bridge House hotel in Offaly will personalize your spa summer holiday making sure you will have a unique spa experience. Spa breaks start from only 129€pps which includes a one night B&B, 4 course dinner and an exquisite 60 minute spa treatment along with complimentary use of one of our amazing spa relaxation chambers. You can also build your own spa+hotel package this summer.
Hotel breaks don´t get any easier, with nearby golf, adventure activities, walking, fishing, historical tours, live entertainment and much more to choose from!

I will need numbers so that I can see when they can take us - but I'm looking for a Saturday night near to the end of June through to July. I will actually try to get the Friday night in also - and if you want to join me feel free. Those of you who have contacted me already re unavailable dates - i've already taken those into consideraation :)
