I would like to chat with some fellow quilters - whether they be into piecing or appliqué.

Hi. I LOVE to quilt, all forms. I'm currently making a quilt for each of my grand children. The first one, the one I'm making now is a scene from the Land Before Time. I found a panel with dinosaurs on it and will applique them to the finished scene. That one is for the youngest. The middle one wants a quilt with lions and tigers. I don't have that one all worked out but have a panel with several animals on it that I will applique. and the oldest one is a girl. she wants butterflies and birds. I have fabric with them on it and so far I thought I might make a tree and applique the butterflies on it. I want to give them as birthday gifts next year, so I have four months to make each one.

I have done others, tumbling blocks, stars, wedding ring, tree of life, briar rose. and many more. I like the celtic designs, and stained glass techniques too. I used to own a shop and taught classes to beginners. I prefer to work by hand.

Nice to meet a fellow quilter. Looking forward to chatting with you.

I luv 2 so-get it? I started quilting in 2000 as a means of therapy. I was depressed so I did what I did best at the time. I sewed. I took classes upon classes and actually became quite good at quilting. Now I make them for gifts, mostly for babies. Currently I'm working on one for a new born. I don't spend as much time as I'd like on my sewing and would love to hear about other peoples projects.

I too love to sew quilts - just started a "Starry Night" quilt for my youngest son. I also like to make them as gifts - the one person in my family without a quilt is me!! I also knit and have just started on my Christmas knitting for all my nieces and nephews - I am the only one in the family who knits apart from my daughter and I am the auntie who produces wondrous jumpers for them all at Christmas. This works up to about the age of 8 and then they are not interested. I then make them a quilt!!

Hi girls,

I visited the Quilt Museum and Gallery in York recently and bought a lovely book called 'The Gentle Art of Quilt-Making', by Jane Brocket. The book is as delicate as the projects it displays and accessible to both pros and would-be quilters. Full of practical tips and inspirational colour combinations, it leaves us with little excuse for not embarking on our own journey. I totally recommend it.

Check it out in her webpage www.janebrocket.com and have fun!

Where is Walmart may be an inexpensive place tp buy material .. The material is not always the best quality .. For small wall hangings and small crafty projects that material may be fine ..But for great quilts once you have invested your time and your efforts into your quilt you want to have good quality material for sure.. Do yourself a favor and go to your quilt shop and purchase on sale materials for any quilt and in the end you will have better satisfaction and it will last a life time .. Check on line material stores if you don't have any close to you .. I have had great luck with them .. Sam quality if you purchase name band material ..
Good luck in your search ..
Have a great day Chicklet

Hi Ladies,

Ohh how I envy you your quilting skills! I've bought every piece of equipment to embark on learning this craft. I had a lovely lady in USA who would come online at an agreed time, and she would spend hours trying to teach me. I'm sad to say that I never got past learning what the selfridge (Not spelt correct) edge of the material is :(

I've looked here in Ireland for classes but still have not found any. I live in hope :)

Thank you for your reply heissefeagerin, but like I've said, I've nearly every beginers book here. I think I actually need to physically see the craft in each of its stages - and real slowly too so that I can work along side.

I wont give up though!
