This is the place to discuss the ‘dating game‘ or ‘dating reality", falling in love the second time again, what ‘romance" means to you and why some great friendships never meant to be a ‘relationship".

Why a site for the generation 50plus? Or the very brief story of how the 50plus-Club was founded.

It all started out with launching our very first site, a Germany-based dating site catering to all age groups, about 10 years ago. The site was quite successful but with large VC-backed dating sites quickly moving into the market, we were soon in real need of a strong new plan to move the site forward.

A few years after launch came the "real eye-opener". We realized that our older members were much more committed to finding romance or a new partner then our younger members. They were posting high quality profiles and were very sincere and mindful in the course of their correspondence. However quite a few older members did not feel very comfortable receiving mails from 20-year-olds.That's when the plan came to start a new, genuine site for people over 50.

This plan went to action in 2005. After several encouraging discussions with family members and friends and a through market analysis we launched 50plus-Treff, one of the very first dating platforms for 50plus'ers in Germany. The launch was a huge success, within 2 years we counted over 40.000 members (today over 60.000 members). However, shortly after launch we realized that about 50% of our members were mainly looking for new friends and activity partners. They wanted more than just a dating-site with personal ads, they wanted a place where they can find like-minded people to have fun with. So we've rebuilt the site to a real community, a place where 50plus'ers can not only find love and romance but new friends and interesting people they can share their ideas and interests with. We've added interactive features that include chat, blogs, forums and galleries. Today we also have over 40 regional groups that frequently organize local get togethers and real life events for members from the "neighborhod". And that's where we stand today!

Today we are launching 50plus-club, the English version of the platform. Being a Canadian myself this is very exciting for me!

So please find yourself at home and enjoy yourself!

Sincerely Yours

I joined the site today and have two contacts already. I love the European/worldwide aspect to the site. Although English I always feel completely at home throughout Europe, not normal for many English people I suspect.

Thank you very much for your fantastic and focused site.

Hi there, Many of the people on the site, and younger than I am, but, I have a new lease of life, the site is taking me out of myself, I am slowly gathering friends from as far away as the USA, and Canada. If the best things in life are free, then perhaps there will be a nice lady within traveling distance, for me to meet and get to know.
Keep up the good work.

I am impressed with the content and layout of this site, it is so refreshing being able to contact and hopefully meet nice friends in ones own age group from other parts of the world.

Although english will always be my first language, I am keen to learn other languages enabling me to converse with new friends, and of course one never knows I might find a lifetime partner, fingers crossed ay!!!!!
